Consultations

Dr. Samuel Sondalle, psychiatrist in New Haven

I offer comprehensive psychiatric consultations for children, adolescents, and adults seeking a thoughtful understanding of their emotional, behavioral, or relational concerns. A consultation is an opportunity to explore your situation in depth, to clarify what may be contributing to current difficulties and to consider how therapy, medication, or other approaches might be helpful.

Consultations typically take place over two or more sessions to allow time for a careful and collaborative understanding of your history, current experiences, and goals. Together, we work to develop a shared perspective on what is happening and what kind of treatment, if any, would best support your needs.

Some people find the consultation process itself to be deeply meaningful. Even if ongoing treatment is not pursued, taking the time to reflect on one’s experiences in a safe, attentive setting can lead to greater self-understanding and relief. Others choose to continue in psychotherapy or combined treatment within my practice.

Throughout the consultation process, I strive to create a space that is warm, respectful, and genuinely curious, one that honors the complexity of each person’s inner world. My goal is to help you arrive at a clearer understanding of yourself and to identify the next right step in your path toward healing and growth.
